Your IELTS results play a key role in shaping your academic, career, or migration journey. Understanding the IELTS result time for different test formats helps you plan effectively and avoid last-minute stress.
The IELTS exam result reflects your English proficiency across four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Each section is scored individually on a band scale of 1–9, and the average determines your overall band score.
Here is the official release timeline for all test types in India:

Accessing your IELTS score is quick and easy through the IELTS result login portal:
Visit the IDP IELTS Candidate Login page.
Enter your username and password.
Click Submit to view your results.
Your scores will be displayed in the ‘Declared Result’ section.
Download your Electronic Test Report Form (eTRF) within 2 working days.
Each candidate is issued one copy of the IELTS TRF (two copies if applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada – IRCC).
The eTRF (digital scorecard) is available through the candidate portal.
Physical TRFs are rarely issued, as results are now digitized.
Additional TRFs (ATRFs) can be requested from your test centre for an administration fee.
You can send up to five electronic score reports free of cost to recognised institutions directly through the candidate portal.
For additional universities, you can request more TRFs (electronic or physical).
Electronic results are delivered instantly; physical requests may take 7–10 working days.
IELTS scores are valid for two years only.
There is no option to extend the validity beyond this period.
If you have multiple IELTS results within the 2-year validity, you can choose which result to use.
If you are not satisfied with your score:
Apply for a remark (EOR) within 6 weeks of your test date.
An enquiry fee applies, but it is refunded if your score changes.
For IELTS on Computer, candidates may also be eligible for One Skill Retake (OSR) within 60 days.
There is no limit to the number of times you can take the IELTS. However, it is strongly recommended to prepare thoroughly before re-sitting. Free IELTS preparation resources are available to help you improve your score.
