The highlighting tool allows you to mark important text on screen while reading passages or questions during the IELTS on Computer test. It helps you focus on key information without writing on paper.
You can use the highlighting feature in:
Reading section – to mark keywords, names, dates, and facts
Listening section – to highlight key words in questions before the audio starts
Note: Highlighting is not available in Writing or Speaking.
Using highlighting correctly can help you:

Step 1: Select the Text
Use your mouse to click and drag over the word or sentence you want to highlight.
Step 2: Right-Click to Highlight
After selecting the text:
Right-click on the selected text
Choose the Highlight option
The selected text will be highlighted on screen.
Step 3: Highlight Only What Matters
Highlight:
Keywords in questions
Names, numbers, dates, places
Words that match or relate to the question
Avoid highlighting full paragraphs.
Step 4: Use Highlights to Find Answers Faster
When scanning the passage later:
Look for highlighted words
Match them with the question
Answer confidently without re-reading everything

Headings and topic sentences
